Emily Mitchell

Emily Mitchell, a lifelong resident of Caroline County, VA, joined Historyland Memorial Park, as a Family Service Counselor, after nearly ten years in the Death Care profession. Emily who joined the Historyland Memorial Park team in July 2021, does not consider her position merely a job, instead she believes that her role is one of service. To be given the opportunity to serve grieving families, as she has been doing for years is considered by Emily a divine gift. Emily also knows from personal experience, the burden that preplanning removes, when a death occurs and uses this experience to help others.

When Emily is not at Historyland serving families, she enjoys spending time with friends and family and of course, the most cherished way to spend her free time is with her grandson and granddaughter.

Matthew Amato

Matthew Amato joined the Historyland Memorial Park & Arboretum team, as the Arboretum Curator. As Curator, he seeks to help establish conservation efforts of local native plants and promote the importance of keystone species. As an environmental professional, he specializes in
horticultural practices and has many years of experience in propagation methods, garden design, and arboreal instruction. He has previously worked as a research technician for an ecological center in Fredericksburg. Matthew Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from both Germanna Community College and Virginia Wesleyan University.

In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, gardening, grafting trees, and sharing plants with
friends & neighbors and spending time with his family.

Luis Ferreira joined the Grounds and Maintenance Department at Historyland Memorial Park in April 2020. Luis assists with all tasks in every facet of work related to his assigned department. He brings energy and enthusiasm to his work, always with an infectious smile for his teammates and for each client with whom he interacts.

Luis continues to learn everything that he can about our business and is willing to lend a hand when needed. Luis enjoys spending time with his family and special friend Kara, when he is away from Historyland.

Cindy KimbroMaintenance Superintendent

Cindy Kimbro

Cindy Kimbro joined Historyland Memorial Park as a part-time Grounds Attendant in 1984. In 1985, Cindy was promoted to the position of Maintenance Superintendent. Cindy and her teammate Luis, meticulously maintain the grounds and plantings, in addition to installing memorials and providing burial prep services. Cindy is a true asset to our Historyland Team. Her experience and length of service, are just two of the many reasons her teammates have come to rely on her.

During her off time, Cindy enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loves visiting with friends and participating in a few team sports.
